Why Designer Fragrances Are So Expensive?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When there were no modern civilization and no artificiality on this earth, since then man is experiencing the existence of fragrances in nature. Evidently fragrances are one of the best treasures that nature has in its store. There are uncountable natural fragrances and all of them are different from each other.

Man realized that these fragrances, if packaged commercially, can earn a huge fortune for them. This initiated fragrance manufacturing industry and thousands of new perfumes, colognes and other aromatic materials are added to the list of artificial fragrances. They are mostly derived from the natural aromatic specimens.

The big brands put in a lot of time and money in research and experiments in order to find out a unique fragrance. Often they mix two or more smells together to bring in that exclusivity in their perfume. Trust me the aroma that is the result of years’ research, after packaging and marketing; bring them money which is quite a number of times more than they spent to manufacture it. The reason is the preciousness of aroma.

The finest materials are used to manufacture that expensive tiny bottle of aroma. The ingredients include extracts of plants and flowers, balsams, essential oils and resins. Tinctures are another secret to make an elite perfume. Now the perfume is considered to be a quality one if the fragrance persists for a longer while.

Frequently adhesives are added to the perfumes to elongate their endurance. The better the quality of the adhesive, the better is the perfume and the higher is the price. There are many other chemicals like ß-myrcene, ethanol, linalool, ß-phenethyl alcohol and limonene which are used in the aroma industry widely.

Most of the chemicals are not really good for the user’s health. They can cause allergy, irritation of skin and other diseases.  They bear the common side effects of a synthetic chemical substance. Still this is a way to make budget friendly fragrances.

But special procedures and quality measures are followed while preparing an expensive one. Preferably all the chemicals are substituted with natural alternatives which are rare and precious. Instead of the chemical alcohol they use the organic alcohols. Fragmented coconut and natural jojoba is used to make it skin friendly. To increase the humid nature of the fragrance and enhance its retained ability they use vegetable glycerin.

This makes it quite evident that it takes a lot of time to prepare that exclusive fragrance, with all the healthy effects present in it, that suits your mood and attitude. You will surely find the economic one with a strong smell which is more like an odor and not really a soothing one for a lesser price. But if you want to indulge in the ecstatic essence that you take you in the world of aroma, then do not hesitate to spend that extra bit on your perfume.

Few Tips for Choosing The Perfect Perfume

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Many of us spend hours of lifetime looking for the ideal and “perfect” perfume. Not only with fragrance, but with jewelry, stylish clothing, make up, and any other items deemed attractive… Many women are known by the scent of their perfume – pleasantness of this scent differs by person to person. Also would be useful to know that same perfume smells a bit differently on any two people because their body chemistry, body heat and body odors are not the same.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you want to buy a perfume that will create the most attractive and romantic feeling to your partner. Firstly, consult with other people, your friends and relatives. They majority will agree with a good perfume opposed to a bad perfume. There are many ways on selecting your perfect perfume and fragrance. When choosing one first go for one you enjoy. These can include fruity perfumes, flowery, or exotic ones you may have never heard of before. They can be crisp and clean or strong and flavorful.

With all perfume cases, your perfume will help attract people who like the perfume of your choice. As said before, you most probably would like to consult your choice of perfume with your friends or relatives. A good idea while choosing perfume is to request small samples of it. This way it will be easier to distinguish different perfumes and which one fits perfectly with you.

As for costs, they can vary greatly. If you are searching for top-notch designer perfume, the costs will naturally be quite a bit higher. If you are not sure about the scent the perfume has, stop by a specialized perfume store and smell the ones of your choice. A tip I greatly recommend is not to buy the perfume right after you have smelt it. You have to confirm it smells good on you after at least 2 hours.

Additionally, just because a certain perfume smells good on one of your friends, that is no reason to believe it will smell good on you. Your body chemistry drastically changes the scents of the perfume. So, in conclusion a perfume that smells good on your friend could smell completely different on somebody else. This is a hard thing to do for many people, but don’t make fast impulsive decisions. Come in for a few days time to the perfume store and test out the same perfume multiple times to see if you like it. Take your time in selecting the perfume you believe everybody will like the most.

Never test more than two scents at a time to avoid confusion of your taste buds. Give time for the scent of the applied perfume to unfold, meaning, after you apply it, give it ten minutes or so before sniffing it. Most perfumes are expected to last around four hours. I said, “most,” so read the label on your perfume for more details.

Perfumes can last around three years after it was bottled. For maximum life, keep your bottle of perfume in a dry place out of direct sunlight, with no extreme temperatures. Lastly, make sure to give a perfume time and don’t rush to drastic purchases.

Tips For Trendy Makeup

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Trends are something that is meant to change. If they stop changing the society will come to a standstill. There will be no variety left in the way we eat party and most importantly look. The art of make up has also gone through drastic changes in the past fifty years.

Marilyn Monroe used to do her in the trendiest way of her time. But if you follow the same make up techniques today you will surely end up being titled as an outdated person.

So the best way to look trendy is to acquire some knowledge about the latest make up trends and follow them religiously. Here is some information about the updates in make up techniques.

The first part in your face that draws attention of others is your eyes. Now-a-days fuller and darker eyebrows are in trend. They flaunt an ultimate feminine and haughty look at the same time which is really in fashion internationally.

If you are a trend conscious person then enhance your eyes with the natural black eyebrow pencils and use the translucent eyebrow definer that will add the desired darkness and volume to your eyebrows. Shades of violet and sapphire blue perfectly complement the lustrous eyebrows.

Lips are probably the most sensuous parts of your face. Proper lip make up can work magic to your looks. The matte look is not very trendy as of now. The intensity and moist look of a glossy lip color is being adored worldwide. In new trend the shades of crimson pink and slightly sheer pink are in.

Often a mixture of two lip colors can give your lips that artistic touch. Never forget to outline the lips with a lip liner that is one shade darker than your lipstick. Prefer brushes to apply the colors as they can give the nice finishing where the sticks fail.

The nail make up has undergone drastic changes as far as the colors are concerned. Those days are gone when pinks and reds were the only choice after an extensive manicure regime. The metallic shades have taken over the market. Graphite, silver, gold, platinum and chrome are the colors that are used to give that metallic look to your long nails.

How can we forget those magnificent nail tattoos that complement the nail enamels? In fact celebrities like Lindsay Lohan are endorsing these techniques to highlight their nails.

This is the age of concealing all the unwanted flaws that your skin has. The best way to do so is using a foundation that matches your skin tone as accurately as possible. So choose your foundation in open daylight so that you can estimate the accuracy of the shade. If yon color is beige then preferably a yellowish foundation is prescribed for you. Orange and peach are the colors for brown skins.

Keep these trendy advices in mind and let your looks stun the guys and make the girls jealous.

Trends & Fragrances

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Yesterday I was taking smell a fresh rose and wondering that the smell is identical with the perfume that my mom uses everyday. As a matter of fact our ancestors are fonder of the natural fragrances like classic lavender, rose or sandal than the artificial ones. But the trends have change with the passage of time. The style of the young generation is defined by fragrances like Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Calvin Klein. Brand consciousness is obviously another valid reason behind the change of trend.

Trends of fragrance are influenced by many factors. It changes with seasons. You need a soothing and refreshing smell to keep you energized during those scorching summer days. Spring is the season to endorse all the sensuous fragrances. Do not forget to wear that warm and catchy perfume to ignite the chilling winter evenings.

Now the trends also change with the individual choice, profession and attitude. If you are a young student ready to take up all the challenges the world throws at you, then probably the tangy fresh citrus aroma resembling a mandarin or a grape fruit will perfectly encourage your vigor. The rich and classy woods will complement the versatility of a person managing the work and family with ultimate efficiency.

The flawless mixture of citrus, woods with a dash of spice can highlight the ambience of a romantic evening.

Now if you feel that men are mot really interested in smelling good then this is perhaps the most miserable misapprehension one can have. They are equally conscious about their fragrance and often pick them up with ultimate accuracy to suite their personality and character.

Moreover today’s men are not ready to buy the concept of masculine and feminine scents. They are happy with the word “Metro sexuality” defining them and hence eager to try those woody and spicy smells on them, which used to be known as women’s fragrance.

The well-known brands are manufacturing some of the most exclusive and expensive perfumes of the world keeping an eye on the trends of fragrance. The “Eternity Summer” by Calvin Klein tops the chart of the top selling perfumes with its green vibrancy and effervescent aroma to recharge you on the hottest day of the year. The “Burberry tender Touch” is sure to steal your heart with its mossy fragrance blended with few drops of that vanilla essence.

Apart from these classy creations there are few trend-setting fragrances that are tagged with the celebrities and also popular among the common people. Now we all know with the advent of a brand new year, trends go through noticeable changes. There are many interesting new fragrances available for this spring and summer. For sure Bvlgari Blu Notte, Moschino Couture, Gucci Envy Me, Island by Michael Kors, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and many others will make their own impact on the trends of the year 2008.

How To Find Your Favorite Fragrance?

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Often people think that fragrance is just… fragrance. The truth is, there are many different perfume varieties available and the quality standards that go into them also can vary remarkably. Finding the right fragrance can be a bit tricky – fragrances are not one type fits all kind of products. What`s the difference between common perfume types?

Parfum

Parfum means perfume in French and is the strongest and longest lasting of fragrances available. This is perfume in its purest and most concentrated form. Parfum may contain several hundreds different ingredients and typically costs a small fortune. It contains up to 20-50% fragrance oils in its composition.

Like lipstick or make-up, this type of fragrance makes a point of your personality. Meant to be applied sparingly to the pulse points, parfum will provide a really long-lasting application.

Parfum could be applied wherever you feel the beat of the heart – at the nape of your neck, behind the ears, at the bosom, at the base of the throat, the inside bend of the elbows, at the inside of the wrists, behind the knees, at the inside of the ankles – fragrance will rise, and the heat of the body at these points will help you achieve a great fragrance application.

People who purchase this type of fragrance can use it sparingly. The scents of parfums usually stick with a person for a long time, that`s the reason why they are favored by many despite pretty high prices.

Eau de Parfum (EDP)

Eau de Parfum (also Parfum de Toilette or PDT) means in French „Perfume Water“ and is a next step down from the strongest fragrance variety. These fragrances contain up to 10-18% perfume compound. EDP remains fairly strong, assures a long-lasting concentrated application and can still be quite expensive to purchase.

“Perfume Water”, one of the newest forms of perfumes, has taken a place in many of the finest fragrance collections. Some of the most famous designer names come in to this style, but it’s still possible to find some great fragrances at lower prices that fit this composition.

For balanced application you should smooth or spray Eau de Parfum just before dressing, from the feet up all over your body. It’s a good idea to use this composition sparingly at first to test its actual strength.

Eau de Toilette (EDT)

Eau de Toilette or “Toilet Water” is a very common and often affordable type of perfume. Using 3-8% fragrance oils, this type of perfume is lighter form of specific fragrance than Eau de Parfum. EDT might require more than one application for all-day scent, it also provides the foundation for your fragrance application. Apply in similar way as Eau de Parfum.

This fragrance composition is favored by many because it is perfect for a more subtle impression, no matter the fragrance, and does dissipate faster than stronger mixes.

Cologne (COL)

Cologne is the lightest form of fragrance for women or a bit more concentrated and lasting form of fragrance for men. Usually Cologne is a blend of natural essential oils, aroma molecules and additional fixatives. With a 3-8% concentration of fragrance oils, Cologne is often considered similar to Eau de Toilette. Like perfumes, the finest colognes may contain hundreds of different ingredients.

Cologne is ideal for splashing liberally all over the body, it`s actually the perfect refresher. Cologne does not provide a longer lasting fragrance application. Because fragrance rises, you should splash or spray this type of perfume from the feet up.

Eau de Cologne (EDC)

Eau de cologne is for men, it’s a fragrance composition that as a standard involves about 3-5% fragrance oils.

Aftershave

Aftershave is a lightest fragrance for men, it is also made of perfume oils in an alcohol water base. After Shave Lotion might use less than 3% fragrance compound in their mix. Formulated to be applied to the face, there can be found two forms of Aftershaves — one provides cooling astringent qualities as a cure for smaller nicks and cuts. The second, which incorporates ingredients to smoothen and moisturize the skin, is a newer development in After Shave Lotions. The After Shave Lotions are created for a relatively short time application.

Moisturizing Perfume Mist

A Moisturizing Perfume Mist is a variety of fragrance that does not incorporate alcohol. It is a spray that contains oil and leaves skin with a smooth veil of perfumed moisturizers. This type of fragrance is perfect to wear in the warm weather because it is less drying to the skin.

Natural spray

Usually a non-aerosol spray generated by pump action. Created to produce a subtile delicate misting of fragrance.

Composition of fragrances varies, that way there are so many different scents – perfumes can range from heavy musk fragrances to light and fresh varieties. There are basically only three major classifications of perfumes, but within these classes you can find several hundreds of different fragrances.

If you like a particular scent, but it seems a bit strong, it`s not a bad idea to try it in a lower fragrance oil compositions. Many leading designers have range of scents in Parfum and even Eau de Toilette varieties for this reason. If one doesn’t fit, most likely some others will – just take your time for trial and error. Don`t wonder if it will need some effort to discover your favorite fragrance.
